2- Costing systems and cost management (2 cfu)
Traditional costing systems. Direct cost analysis. Estimation of allocation coefficients. Systems of estimation of job and process costing. Allocation of indirect costs . Responsibility and cost centers. Innovative costing systems. Activity Based Costing (ABC). ABC development and applications
3 – Control systems and variances analysis (1,5 cfu)
Standard, variable and full costs systems. Quality costs and joint costs. Accuracy of cost estimate. Analysis of variance of production and non production costs. The different categories of cost variance. The system and the process of management control
4 - The process of planning, budgeting and reporting. (1,5 cfu)
Strategic planning. Development of budget. Operating budget, cash budget and investments budget. Reporting process. Short term decision: differential cost analysis and alternative choice decisions.
5 - Investment analysis, (2 cfu)
Short and long term decisions. Criteria and factors for the analysis and evaluation of investments.
Investment evaluation methods based on discounted cash flows: NPV, IRR. Other investment valuation methods: Pay back period (PBP), Accounting rate of return (ARR), discounted PBP. Economic value added (EVA)
6 - Performance measurement of the organization. (1 cfu)
Performance measurement and limits of economic results. Evaluation of organization performance. Tableau de bord, Balanced scorecard, Multistakeholder model. The design of a management accounting system.
