Knowledge and understanding
Students have to understand the basics of management and the rational above the actual competitive market. Student should know and understand the main management tools, at both strategic and operative level.
They should also understand the driver of firms’ competitive advantage
Applying knowledge and understanding
Students will develop the capability to analyse markets and apply what they learned in different scenario.
They will know and apply the fundamentals of business management of companies that operate in different industries in a flexibile way.
Students should demonstrate to be able to make critical judgements on real situation and apply in a critic way the theoretical and practical models learned
Students need to be able to answer in a precise and reasoned way to the questions posed during the written and the oral exam.
They should employ a technical and proper terminology and demonstrate the ability to synthesize the content in both written and oral examination.
Lifelong learning skills
Student should demonstrate the ability to manage independently what they learned, identifying the interdisciplinary connection among different topics.
The course is aimed at students of Bachelor Degree in Economia Aziendale and requires that students have a basic knowledge of Microeconomics and Business Administration.
Although the length of each section depends on the background of the class, normally the content will be divided into 4 different blocks as follows:
I BLOCK: Theoretical approach of management (6 hours):
II BLOCK: Value chain model, critics to the model, analysis of primary and secondary activities of firm’s value chain
III BLOCK: External and Internal Environment. The role of core competences
IV BLOCK: Competitive and growth strategies.
The main topics are: the analysis of macro and micro environment; the analysis of Porter’s Value Chain primary activities: operations, logistics, marketing; the analysis of Porter’s Value Chain support activities: organization, human resource management, technology management, finance; competitive strategies; corporate strategies
The course will be organized in frontal lessons. To encourage learning, students are invited to view the material on the e-learning platform.
Theoretical arguments will be supported by the presentation of case studies and by corporate testimonials. Frontal lessons will be supported by slides but also by video footage.

All students will undertake a test examination, articulated in a written test consisting of open questions on the topics of the program, and an oral exam.
The written assignment consists of 8 open questions on the topics of the program, the first seven questions will be awarded a 4 points score and last question will be awarded 2 points score. The test will last 90 minutes.
The oral interview can only be accessed by those who have at least received a written evaluation of 18. Oral examination is compulsory for those who have obtained a rating from 27 to 30, optional in other cases.
The vote in 30/30 will be the result of the two tests.
