Course description

The aim of the course is to provide students with the knowledge about the relationship between tourism and environmental sustainability and between local development and territorial policies, with particular attention to aspects of tourism demand and offer.
Expected Learning results:
-KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: The student must demonstrate that they know and understand the issues related to the evolution of tourism; To the actors involved; The policies and tools of the tourist spaces; to the dynamics of economic and sustainable development.
-APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: The student must demonstrate that he has understood and acquired the ability to analyze the issues concerning development and tourist itineraries in the area that enhance local resources, as well as identify the geographical dynamics of tourism flows.
Students must be able to deepen their learning independently and develop critical skills to interpret and communicate the main dynamics of the issues being analyzed.
-COMMUNICATION: The student must demonstrate appropriate communication skills by describing the concepts in a clear and exhaustive way through the correct use of geographic Language considering intercultural elements.
-LIFELONG LEARNING SKILLS: The student must demonstrate a good learning ability using also different bibliographic references to be able to deepen individual topics analyzed during the course and to be able to independently face further post-graduate studies.


Basic knowledge of basic concepts of economic geography.


The program will be divided into 2 module:
I Module (24 hours): The evolutionary process of tourism; Organizational-territorial models; Globalization and local development.
II Module (24 hours): Tourism policies; Cultural heritage; Tourism Marketing.

Teaching Methods

Frontal lessons, analysis of case studies proposed by the textbook and the teacher.

Learning assessment

The assessment is based on an oral test to evaluate the achievement of the educational objectives by the student. To evaluate the acquisition and depth of learning of general theoretical knowledge, questions are asked about the topics of the program. In answering the questions the students will have to demonstrate their ability to expose the fundamental concepts learned during. For the trainees periodic checks could be carried out to ascertain the acquired knowledge. The grade assigned to the oral exam is expressed in thirtieths.
