Course description

The primary objective is to provide the student with analytical and synthesis techniques and appropriate critical tools to understand and use the organizational legal models of business and institutions operating in the transport sector.
Knowledge and understanding
The course is aimed at the acquisition of specific knowledges of the regulation which, on the basis of international, national and european law, regulates transport services and infrastructures in the various modes of transport of people and goods (air, sea, railways, roads, port and airport infrastructures). The study will also address the very current profile of the economic and environmental sustainability of the various transport services.
Applying knowledge and understanding
The student will be able to examine and apply in the practical case the normative, doctrinal and jurisprudential approaches to access to the market of transport services and the management of the relevant infrastructure. In particular the rules on the protection of competition and different forms of public intervention in the transport sector.
Making judgements
The course aims to increase the ability to critically evaluate and analyze the many issues related to the transport sector in different operating environments.
Communication skills
The course consists of a series of activities (exercises, classroom discussions, seminars) aimed at strengthening the ability to translate, also with IT tools, skills acquired in the transport sector and to use the legal technical language of the discipline. The communicative skills of the student will be explicitly assessed during the exam.
Learning skills
The course will provide the student with the necessary autonomy to continue to deepen autonomously the main issues covered by transport law, and access to the main scientific literature, including through online databases, in order to align their competences with the continuous evolution of sectoral legislation in relation to the working contexts in which they will operate

The law of transport. The sources. Transport networks and infrastructures and their management. Transport planning. The ports. Airports. The linear infrastructures. Access to the transport market. Maritime transport. Air transport. Road transport. Rail transport.

The aim of the course is to enrich the cultural background of the student with a specific training on the regulation of the transport sector and mobility.
The course is divided into a first module related to the discipline of infrastructures and the rules of access to the market (24 hours). The second module will examine the legal regime of maritime, air, road and rail services (24 hours).

Learning assessment

Verification of learning takes place through an oral examination of the duration of approx. 15/20 minutes, with a final vote in thirteths. The subject of the examination is the assessment of the knowledge provided by the teaching program, the ability to solve particular legal problems, the correctness, clarity and effectiveness of exposure (with special regard to the appropriate use of technical terms).
