The aim of the course is to provide knowledge about logics, methods and managerial instruments in order to manage the firms, helping to understand production processes, the organization of economic resources and the accounting recording of management operations.
Thanks to the course the student will have skills in terms of:
1. analysis and interpretation of operations management; 2. identification of the financial and economic effects of the firms, as well as the capacity to summarize the health status of firms
In order to develop the applied comprehension capability, the course provides empirical findings on theoretical arguments with the quantitative analysis of both economic and financial aspects about the management operations.
Business administration, definitions of firm, stakeholders and corporate governance, operating processes, funding sources, main profiles of management analysis, operations analysis and the changes in values, total income and period income, equity, income statement and balance sheet.
The main topics of the Business Administration course concern the characteristics of the firms, the equilibrium conditions, the quantification of profit, loss and capital. The indexes for the management decisions.
The course is structured into two modules:
I module (24 hours):
The first module includes the following topics: the nature of the firms and its characteristics, efficiency and effectiveness, stakeholder and shareholder systems, management and organisational systems, cost and revenue of organisational processes, investments and financing.
II module (24 hours):
The second module includes the following topics: total equity concept, capital definitions, accruals accounting, conservatism concept, the balance sheet and income statement.

Student’s knowledge is verified through a written test and an oral test.
The written test lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes. Students must answer open and / or multiple choice questions as well as conduct some exercises.
The written test score is given by a vote that ranges from 0 to 30.
At the end of the written exam, the student may optionally decide to hold the oral examination, unless he has achieved a grade higher than 26/30. In this case, the student must submit the oral examination, unless he decides to accept 26/30 as the final vote of the exam.
To pass the exam, the student must score a minimum of 18/30.
The student reaches the 18/30 vote, when he demonstrates that he has gained sufficient knowledge of the topics being discussed in the course. To achieve a score of 30/30 and praise, the student must demonstrate that he has gained an excellent knowledge of all the topics dealt with during the course.
Lectures are in Italian. The professor is fluent in English and is available to interact with students in English, also during the examination.
