Course description

The course has as fundamental aim the development of knowledge on basic theoretical and epistemological elements of pedagogy, as educational knowledge linked with a variety of disciplines and interpretative dimension. Specifically, the aim of the course is to familiarize students with a reflective approach on education, both from the point of view of self-care and from the point of view of the other's care.

The course develops in 2 phases:

Phase 1 - General section: Includes the fundamentals of general pedagogy as a discipline and as a science built around the category of human formation, with special focus on:
1. the epistemological statute of the discipline
2. pedagogical theories and models
3. definition of the object of study
4. the beneficiaries of the educational work
5. methodological tools

Phase 2 - monographic part
It includes a first deepening of the theme of professionalism from the point of view of its educational (educational relationship) and formative (reflexivity) component.

Teaching Methods

All contents will be analyzed with relational and participatory methodology in order to demonstrate "live" as the study of the discipline is to investigate possibilities and limits of educational relationships. Reflection on one's own and others' experience will be of fundamental priority to develop skills of analysis of oneself, of others and of the relationship itself.

The oral exam will be done as follow:
- Choose 5 "pedagocial words" that, according with the student, are particularly interconnnected
- justify the choice, even referring to the personal, study or work experience
- justify the choice, explaining the links among them, or cross-cutting concepts
-Choose any other pedagogical words that can link up to 5 choices (e.g.: "Agonism "also connects with"...")

Learning assessment

Oral exam to verify the learning process of the student regarding content and objectives of the course
