The aim of the course is to provide the knowledge of how companies operate and the logics, methods and tools of company management, facilitating the understanding of economic processes, the organization of resources and the measurement of administrative facts. Knowledge and understanding: The student must acquire the basic concepts concerning the company as an open system, its structure and its management, with particular attention to the values generated by management operations and related summaries. It will also have to develop interpretative skills of company values, in the context of the various company classes. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding: The student will develop an adequate capacity for orientation between the various profiles of study and the various professional skills relevant to the operation of companies. Therefore, at the end of the course, the student will be able to discriminate the different types of companies and business processes, interpreting the business dynamics through models of value analysis. Making judgments: at the end of the course the student must be able to identify the appropriate models of representation of the company dynamics to be applied to the specific management operations and to discriminate the values according to their nature. Communication skills: the student must be able to express and describe qualitatively and quantitatively, clearly and effectively, the characteristics and dynamics of the business management using the technical vocabulary related to the topics covered during the course. Learning skills: the student must demonstrate a good ability to learn models of representation of the complex operational and decision-making dynamics of business processes. Furthermore, the student must demonstrate that he is able to apply the knowledge acquired to specific cases of business operations.
The course will deal, in a first part, with the institutional issues of the business administration related to the basic concepts of the discipline; in a second part, it will analyze the activities and characteristics of the main operations and business processes; and, finally, will develop the modeling necessary to represent company operations in terms of economic, financial and equity changes, flows and funds, capital and income. The course content can be broken down into several lesson blocks, the duration of which depends on the level of preparation of the students and their familiarity with the basic concepts. On average, the course is organized as follows: First block (24 hours): Institutional aspects of the business administration: the object and method of the business administration, the concept of the company, the corporate finalism, the characteristics of the companies, the classification of companies, the company as a system, stakeholders and company governance. Second block (24 hours): Analysis of the main business processes: process of financing, sales, supply of current factors, acquisition of the labor factor, procurement of multi-year factors Third block (24 hours): Analysis of values: verification and control of conditions efficiency, effectiveness, concepts of capital and income, economic, financial and equity equilibrium, cost measurement, breakeven point analysis, fund analysis and flows.

The final exam includes a compulsory written test, concerning both general theory and quantitative topics, and articulated in closed and/or open questions and exercises. Based on the results of the written test, the student is entitled to provide supplementary elements through an oral exam. During the course will be carried out exercises in itinere also intended as opportunities for self-assessment by the student of its knowledge.
