Course description

The course aims at integrating the basic skills of students with advanced methods for the analysis of structures relying upon nonlinear models and finite-element based computational tools.

Prerequisites

Contents of the course of Mechanics of Solids and Structures.
One-dimensional structural models;
Elements of continuum mechanics;
Elements of constitutive theory, elasticity and material behavior ;
Saint Venant problem;

Nonlinear problems (6 h)
Theory and implementation of plasticity (18h)
Computer procedures for FE analysis of 1D structures (18h)
Computer procedures for FE analysis of 2D structures (30h)

Nonlinear problems (4+2 h)
Theory and implementation of plasticity (6+12 h)
Computer procedures for FE analysis of 1D structures (8 + 10 h)
Computer procedures for FE analysis of 2D structures (16 + 14 h)

Teaching Methods

The course includes both theoretical and practical sessions.
