### Course description

The aim of the course is to provide knowledge for the use of statistics as support in the management and in business processes.. The course provides a theoretical and applicative approach in order to allow the student to have the ability to choose and or collect, process and interpret statistical information useful to managerial decisions.
Knowledge and understanding:
Demonstrate to understanding the usefulness of statistical information in business activities and the capacity to associate the most appropriate statistical method in relation to the fixed managerial objectives.
Applying knowledge and understanding: Learning skills to identify a business problem and find the solution through the application of appropriate statistical tools.
Making judgements: Ability to develop a critical approach in the issues addressed.
Communications: Be able to expressin a clear and exhaustive way the themes addressed in the teaching, choosing the most appropriate way in relation to the different stakeholders.
Lifelong learning skills: to demonstrate learning abilities with bibliographic and other methods relating to the discipline under the study.

### Prerequisites

Knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistical methods; calculus.

### Syllabus

Part I (24h): Statistics in business management. Statistical information: availability and production of data. Comparison of statistical data. Measure efficiency and productivity (data envelopment analysis).
Part II (24h): Analyze the relationships between the business variables (correlation and linear regression). Evaluate the performance of the company (balance sheet indexes, analysis in main components, cluster analysis).

### Learning assessment

The learning assessment is based on moments of collective discussion in the classroom, and in the calls provided by the academic calendar, on an oral test, accompanied by a vote expressed in thirtieths, aimed at assessing the learning capacity of the contents of the program.
