Course description

The course is designed to introduce students to crisis
management and turnaround processes. The focus is
on: crisis management by both managerial ways and
bankruptcy laws; turnaround processes with reference
to opportunities, forlumation and implementation of
turnaround strategies. The course is intended to
provide the students with a pragmatic approach that
will guide, also by case studies, to the crisis
management and the turnaround processes.
Students:
- will know models, methods and tools of crisis
management and turnarounds;
- will know crisis management by managerial ways
and bankruptcy laws;
- will be able to choose the best decisions for crisis
management and turnarounds
- will be able to apply the best actions for crisis
management and turnarounds.

Business administration, strategic management and

Syllabus

The course focus on crisis management and
turnaround by a strategic approach.
Firm's success and distressed firms. The traditional
approach to turnarounds. The strategic approach to
turnarounds. The analysis of key competences and
firm's opportunities. Competitive repositioning.
Organizational restructuring. Financial restructuring.
Introduction to bankruptcy laws. Case studies

Learning assessment

The assessment of expected learning outcomes will take place in several ways and at different times. Specifically, learning outcomes will be verified in itinere through training tests based on: Tests aimed at knowledge assessment; Exercises, aimed at skills assessment. At the end of the course the expected learning outcomes will be verified by a preliminary written test consisting of questions and exercises. Based on the results of written test, students will be assessed by an oral exam.
