Course description

The course aims to provide the tools to understand the limits but also the opportunities derived by EU law. In particular it means to explain the main EU material competences, namely internal market and competition law to offer the tools to understand the current global market scenario

Prerequisites

Basic knowledges of private, public and international law.

Syllabus

Institutions: Parlament, EU Commission, Eu Council, Council. Sources: EU Treaties, principles, secondary law (regulations, decisions and directives) Legal protection system: preliminary reference, action for annullament, action for infringement, action for damages. Legal system relationship.
Internal market: freedom of circulation of goods, persons and services.
General principles of competition law, notion of undertaking, cartels, abuse of dominant position, mergers, procedural rules in competition law, competition in SGEI.

Part I -Institutional aspects of EU law: legal sources, principles and legal protection system.
Part II -Internal market : freedom of circulation and competition law

Teaching Methods

At the beginning training process is based on the theoretical framework classes that relate to the issues in which the present course program. Exercises and case studies discussions will then be made to encourage the development of critical thinking and the implementation capacity of the logical- analytical tools discussed during the lessons.
