Course description

The course aims to provide a general introduction to the basic concepts of computers and information technology. It is divided into two parts: a first section that introduces the foundations of the architecture of a computer, of the central unit and of the peripherals; a second one, which involves the study of the basic software and the Operating System, the use and understanding of the MS-EXCEL application software and computer networks.

Basic Concepts of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Digital representation of data. Computer architecture and CPU. Secondary memory. Input/Output peripherals. The Operating System. Internet and computer networks. Introduction of the spreadsheet concepts through practical applications. Creating and formatting an spreadsheet, using formulas and basic functions. Graphic representation of the data contained in the spreadsheet.

Learning assessment

The objective of the assessment is to evaluate the students' level of learning, which will be tested through a written test with 15 multiple-choice questions lasting 30 minutes on the theoretical topics, and on the use of spreadsheets. Each correct answer is worth 2 points for a total of 30 points for the evaluation of the entire test.
