GREEN MANAGEMENT (II MOD)

The purpose of the course is to develop knowledge and capabilities to natural environment effect on business management, at both strategical and operative level.
Knowledge and understanding
Students should know and understand the impact of green management on business’s functional organizational structures, business performances and firms’ competitive advantage. Moreover, students should know and understand the main features of green innovation, green business models and green marketing.
Applying knowledge and understanding
Students should demonstrate to know and understand the new managerial approaches and concepts such as green innovation, clean tech, design for sustainability, sustainable supply chain, new sustainable business models.
At the end of the course, students need to develop the ability to interpret and critic theoretical models, and to decide the models and techniques, which are more useful in specific situations.
Thanks to final project works and case studies analysis, students will develop the capability to work as a team and to develop, independently, possible strategic and tactical solutions to green strategy implementation
Students need to be able to answer in a precise and reasoned way to the questions posed during the written and the oral exam, using appropriate terminology.
Thanks to the final project works, students will develop the capability to present a Power point presentation, explain and motivate their analysis with synthesis.
Students are invited to work in English, in order to improve also their languages skills.
Lifelong learning skills
In order to pass the exam, students need to demonstrate their capability to learn the different topics, and to discuss them also considering different and independently bibliographical resources.
At the end of the course, students should be able to apply previous knowledge on specific case studies in order to improve the interdisciplinary connection among different topics.
GREEN MANAGEMENT, I MODULE
Although the length of each section depends on the background of the class, normally the content will be divided into 4 different blocks as follows:
I track (18 hours) Green management and business value chain. Green innovation, green supply chain, green business models. Green marketing. How to evaluate and communicate green strategies.
II track (6 hours) Case studies and project works presentation. Each group will examine the driver of the specific green strategy implemented, the green value chain transformation, with regard to green innovation and marketing mix used.

The course will be organized in frontal lessons. To encourage learning, students are invited to view the material on the e-learning platform.
Theoretical arguments will be supported by the presentation of case studies and by corporate testimonials. Frontal lessons will be supported by slides but also by video footage.
The analytical approaches are illustrated based on planning problems in practice and their understanding is deepened with case studies, simulations, etc. Moreover, specific management problems in applying these approaches are examined.
During the last part of the course, students will prepare a project work in order to develop the capability to apply theoretical knowledge on empirical cases.

All students will undertake a test examination, articulated in a written test consisting of open questions on the topics of the program, and an oral exam.
Written examination wants to verify students’ knowledge on the basics of natural environment effect on company’s value chain and the green tools employed by companies. Oral examination wants to verify students’ capabilities to apply theoretical knowledge on case study. The project work wants to verify students’ ability to identify how environment can affect the competitive scenario and company’s value chain and to plan the right and suitable green strategy.
The vote in 30/30 will be the result of the two tests.
In itinere evaluation is also provided with simulation without any formal evaluation.
