Course description

The "Human Resources Management" module aims to make participants to acquire knowledge about key personnel management systems, such as recruitment, selection, evaluation and compensation, so that the participants:
• are able to understand the advantages and disadvantages of the practices used within companies;
• are able to consciously apply corporate human resource management policies.
Overall, the course aims to forge competent professional figures in the analysis of organizational behaviors and corporate relational dynamics, skilled in the field of human resource management policies.
In detail, we aim to achieve the following objectives:
1) Knowledge and ability to understand.
The student must demonstrate that he has acquired a basic knowledge about: the main organizational theories that regulate the organization of company activities; to the key variables of the organization of work; to the systems of regulation and governance of the relationships between the individual and the firm in any economic sector, especially sports or in connected and / or related fields.
The student must demonstrate the ability to grasp the relevance and criticality of the Human Resources Management policies, for example, the planning and development of training processes in the field of sports professions both for management and for the technical part, according to the topics illustrated and the deeply stimulated during the course, the seminars and the exercises.
2) Ability to apply knowledge and understanding.
The student must be able to apply the concepts learned to concrete cases and specific contexts, especially to the sports sector, demonstrating the complete and acquired knowledge and understanding of the fundamental principles of study of human resources management. The exercises aim to develop and verify these application skills. For example, to develop a video curriculum as part of the application phase of the theoretical notions concerning the study of the recruitment and selection process of personnel with a focus on selection techniques, especially the curriculum vitae and its digital version.
3) Autonomy of judgment.
The student must be able to express his/her own point of view assuming positions argued according to scientific logic and personal intuition, consonant and sustainable in relation to the topics covered by the course.
4) Communication skills.
Students must know how to express themselves with language and awareness of their emotional experiences that emerge from non-verbal language, demonstrating that they can explain some basic concepts learned in a simple and clear way also through the use of exemplary cases in the sporting world or similar.
5) Learning skills.
The student must be able to build clear and comprehensive mental maps for each conceptual category included in the examination program in relation to the individual constructs relating to the study of human resource management policies, using the nomenclature characteristics of the discipline.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of the fundamentals of the Organization Theory (micro and meso level of organizational analysis).

Human resource management policies; human resources evaluation; Mentoring in human resource management policies (Insights); Mentoring and coaching in human resource management policies (In-depth Studies); Compensation; Burnout; A conceptual analysis of organizational well-being; Organizational well-being and human resource management policies; Ethics, social responsibility and organizational well-being.

The course provides a theoretical-practical itinerary on the models and tools of Human Resource Management. The first part of the course concerns the theoretical foundations of modern Human Resources Management (HRM), as a prevailing interpretative proposal on the relationship between individual and organization. The second part regards the main operating systems of HRM (recruitment, training and development, performance evaluation, compensation) and to the development and implementation of innovative techniques to support the HRM policies. The third part deeply analyzes, through seminar activities and group work with the development of project work, the main topics.

Teaching Methods

Lectures, seminar meetings to present concrete business cases with selected testimonials (champions and managers of the sport sector or in connected and/or related fields), exercises in the classroom, project work in the area of human resources management especially applied to the sport sector.

Learning assessment

Written examination divided into four open five-point questions each, and a ten-point open question, related to the topics listed in the program. The written exam is expressed in thirtieths of vote (total written test score is 30).
Oral examination (for candidates who pass the test with a score of at least 18/30), that consists into questions that start from any gaps in the written examination, regards the topics in the program.
The assessment of the learning will be carried out by means of a written test and an oral test and it is proposed to evaluate the degree of knowledge of the basics and the fundamental topics of study of the teaching program, as well as the verification to verify the student's ability to apply the concepts acquired in reality above all in the sport field. For example, we intend to evaluate the student’s ability to apply human resources management policies in terms of staff training or innovative support techniques, such as coaching or mentoring in sports organizations, both internally to structures such as sports federations. or CONI is in sports practice in the strict sense of how to manage a football or volleyball team.
Written and oral examinations aim at verifying the level of learning of the principles, notions and topics listed in the program.
This examination will be conducted on the basis of the following criteria: level of knowledge and depth of study regarding human resource management policies; Language properties and exhibit clarity. This examination concerns:
1. Number of tests contributing to the assessment: 2;
2. Objective of the test: verifying the level of student learning on fundamental aspects of the subject;
3. Methods of administration (written, oral, practical): written and oral examination;
4. Timetable: according to the exam schedule;
5. Duration: written test 1 hour; Oral test for about 10 to about 30 minutes
6. Type (e.g. written test, practical test, interview, etc ...): written test to open answers + oral examination;
7. Final Examination: The student will achieve the minimum score if he/she can demonstrate the acquisition of basic knowledge related to the field of human resource management policies. The student will get the highest score when he/she demonstrates that he/she has understood, thoroughly and interjected all the topics listed in the program, also being able to grasp the interconnections between them and provide concrete application, examples in relation to their managerial implications.
