MATHEMATICS AND STATISTICS
The course provides tools and methodologies in order to understand
simple mathematical models.
Knowledge and understanding: The student must demonstrate
knowledge and understanding of issues related to the aspects of basic

demonstrate how to use the acquired concepts and the tools necessary
for the processing and interpretation of experimental data.
Judgment autonomy: Students must be able to independently evaluate
situations different from the standard presented by the teacher during

simple and clear way the topics discussed in the course.
Learning Skills: The student must be able to update continuously through
the consultation of texts and publications (also in English) in order to
acquire the ability to deepen new topics that include mathematical
Trigonometry, powers, logarithms, geometry, set theory and logic.
Numbers, sequences and series, Logic, Set theory, combinatorics.
Univariate functions. Continuity: main results. Power and exponential
functions, logarithmic functions, circular functions: sine and cosine,
tangent. Differential calculus. Derivatives. Fermat and Lagrange theorem.
Monotonicity and convexity. Integral calculus. Riemann integral. Linear
algebra: matrices, vectors and linear systems. Probability. Bayes
Random variables. Mean and variance for main distributions. Bivariate
statistics. Covariance. Ordinary differential equations
