Course description

Knowledge and understanding:
Knowledge of digital modulation techniques. Knowledge of results and techniques for modulation format classification and hiding.

Applying knowledge and understanding:
Knowledge of the main digital communication systems. Capability to implement in Matlab/Octave simple schemes.

Making judgements:
Capability to choose the best modulation system.

Communication skills: Capability to present a topic of the course.

Learning skills:
Capability to elaborate and synthesize and implement in Matlab/Octave the course contents.

Prerequisites

Mathematics, Probability and stochastic processes, Signal theory, Electrical communications.

Syllabus

Theory 35%, Numeric Exercises 15%, Matlab/Octave Exercises 50%.

Communication systems with numerical modulation. PAM, PSK, QAM, FSK.
Modulation format identification and classification.

Teaching Methods

Lectures; Class Exercises; Matlab/Octave exercises in laboratory.
