Course description

The "Industrial Psychology" module aims to develop students' knowledge of the main theoretical approaches to the study of human behavior within organizations, with specific focus on the determinants and consequences of organizational behaviors and possible application analysis tools. The course also aims to identify effective operational conflict resolution practices induced by individual differences within organizations.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of the fundamentals of the Organization Theory (micro and meso level of organizational analysis).

Syllabus

To develop people-oriented organizations and skills (1); Organizational culture and socialization (3); Individual differences: self-concept, personality and emotions (5); Values, attitudes, skills and work satisfaction (6); Motivation through the contents of the work (8); Motivation through equity, expectation and goal setting (9); Individual and group decision making processes (11); Group dynamics (12); Team and group work (13); Conflict management and negotiation with insights (14).

Teaching Methods

Lectures, classroom exercises on organizational behavior, eventually, seminar meetings to present concrete business cases with selected witnesses of excellence.

Learning assessment

Oral examination, which consists into questions regarding the topics in the program.
Oral examination aim at verifying the level of learning of the principles, notions and topics listed in the program.
This examination will be conducted on the basis of the following criteria: level of knowledge and depth of study regarding principles of organizational behaviors, language properties and exhibit clarity.

2. Objective of the test: verifying the level of student learning on fundamental aspects of the subject
3. Methods of administration (written, oral, practical): oral examionation
4. Timetable: according to the exam schedule
5. Duration: oral test for about 15 to about 30 minutes
6. Type (e.g. written test, practical test, interview, etc ...): oral examination
7. Final Examination: The student will achieve the minimum score if he/she can demonstrate the acquisition of basic knowledge related to the field of organizational behavior. The student will get the highest score when he/she demonstrates that he has understood, thoroughly and introjected all the topics listed in the program, also being able to grasp the interconnections between them and provide concrete application, examples in relation to their managerial implications.
