Course description

The course aims to analyze tools and methodologies of industrial facilities. In this perspective, the course covers topics related to the
analysis and design of facility planning and design with particular reference to safety management and energy optimization.

Knowledge and understanding
Good knowledge about the main functions of industrial facilities
Good knowledge of the main schemes of operation of the installations of services
Knowledge of general criteria for sizing and recurring issues in the design of a service facility
Basic knowledge of the laws on industrial services.
Knowledge of techniques and tools to optimize the management of service facilities

PART 1 - FACILITY PLANNING AND DESIGN
1) Industrial water distribution systems; Air compressor production and
distribution systems; Thermal system (12 hours - 1.5 CFU).
2) The risks associated with the use of service facilities / machines and
work equipment. Electrical and Lighting Systems. Fire protection systems
and devices / Atex. Industrial Services and Defense against Noises and
Vibrations: Reference Standards and Control Methods. Applications (30
hours - 3.5 CFU.)
PART 2 - TOOLS FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF INDUSTRIAL SERVICES.
1) Organization of production processes (4 hours - 0.5 CFU).
2) Industrial Services Innovation: System Evolution from World Class
Manufacturing to Smart Manufacturing. The role of digital innovation and
simulation (4 hours - 0.5 CFU).
3) Decision Support System and Multi criteria decision methods (4 hours -
0.5 CFU).
4) Methods and techniques for managing the systems / human reliability
of industrial service facilities. Product life cycle management. Schedule,
plan and organize system reliability and routine maintenance (8 hours - 1
CFU).
PART 3 - METHODS FOR OPTIMIZATION OF INDUSTRIAL SERVICES.
1) Energy Management Systems. Life Cycle Assessement. Environmental
sustainability of industrial services (4 hours - 0.5 CFU).
2) Synergies between management systems. Quality Management (ISO
9001), Environment (ISO 14001) and Safety (OHSAS 18001) (8 hours - 1
CFU).
