Course description

The course will provide the fundamental concepts of Sustainable Development and its definition and evolution over the time.
Sustainable Development it is a complex concept regarding different aspects, both social and physical, the course intends to define in an analytical way what are the limits of the Planet and in which way it is possible to measure them. Subsequently it will be analyzed the roots of economic development such as: human capital, the social and political institutions, the innovation, the role of population and demography.

Prerequisites

It is important to have the basic concepts of microeconomics and macroeconomics.

Teaching Methods

The course is articulated in frontal lessons and exercitations. During the lessons will be used slides to expose the main concepts and it will be used many examples from the real economy. We will organize also seminars held by operators and researchers in the field of Sustainable Development with the aim to offer a general view of the applicability of the concepts and the arguments treated during the course.

Learning assessment

There will be two examinations: written and oral. The written part will consist in three short essays, while the oral part will consist in an exposition also with the help of slides of one of the argument treated during the course chosen by student.

More information

The professor is able to teach in English, hence in case of foreign student who prefers English language, the professor could communicate with them in English, giving also indication for textbooks or slides in English, as well as explanations in topics treated during the course in English.
