### Course description

The course aims at offering students a tool of statistical multivariate methods that allow them to detect statistical data, in a business and economic framework. The course also aims at achieving the educational objectives to enable students to enter the labour market with skills for using statistical techniques as valid support to business decision in the different functional areas and to analyze different of economic dynamics.

Basic tools of General Mathematics and Basic Statistics.

The Italian tax system and the introduction of Studi di Settore
Preparing the Studi di settore

Multivariate statistical methods
1) Factorial analysis in order to reduce the complexity of a data set and explain the common and unique variance using latent variables.
2) Clustering techniques, for the identification of similar groups, according to hierarchical and non-hierarchical clustering
3) Multiple linear regression and econometrics principles
Starting point for the analysis of these statistical techniques is the study of the complex process for the estimation of taxes due by small and medium enterprises and self-employees in specific industries based in statistical studies (studi di settore)

The course aims at offering students a tool of statistical methods that allow them to analyze statistical data, summarize and interpret quantitative information in a business and economic framework.

The contents of the course include the study of the principal multivariate statistical techniques. In particular:
1) Factorial analysis in order to reduce the complexity of a data set and explain the common and unique variance using latent variables.
2) Clustering techniques, for the identification of similar groups, according to hierarchical and non-hierarchical clustering
3) Multiple linear regression and econometrics principles

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES:

Knowledge and understanding:
The student should be able to know the main theories and techniques for the collection, analysis and interpretation of business and economic data.

Applying knowledge and understanding:
The student should be able to use the acquired knowledge in practical circumstances, applying the main statistical tools, through the most appropriate statistical software, with a special focus on the business and economic dynamics.

Making judgements:
The student should have the maturity and the ability to choose autonomously the more suited statistical technique to solve a specific problem.

Communication:
The student should be able to communicate clearly and with an adequate technical language the contents of the Course and to apply them in business and economic contexts.

Lifelong learning skills:
The student should be able to show a good learning ability and autonomy in investigating in-depth the matters of the Course using the references provided by the teacher. The student should be able to implement the more suited statistical tools in the specific circumstances.

### Learning assessment

During the course, many practical cases will be introduced and discussed. In some lessons students will apply the statistical multivariate techniques through statistical software in order to solve some practical cases
